What kind of sorcery is this? If you’ve been following us, you’ll know that Stephanie loves tequila, while David can’t stand it and prefers a good bourbon. However, Stephanie is not a fan of bourbon. Recently, we had a reason to celebrate and decided to mix the two spirits, curious to see if they could work together. But we didn’t settle for just any tequila and bourbon – we wanted spirits with a rich history!

Tres Generaciones Tequila: A Triple Distilled Triumph

To start, let’s talk about the Anejo Tres Generaciones Tequila in the Cenobio and the Buffalo. Dating back to the early 1800s, Sauza is responsible for putting tequila on the map. A true OG of the spirit industry, Sauza was one of the first tequila brands to be exported out of Mexico. This export saw people all over the world falling in love with the spirit, eventually leading to the creation of some of our favorite cocktails – margaritas, anyone?

The Bold Bourbon: Buffalo Trace’s Storied Legacy

Now, let’s move on to the other star in this drink – Buffalo Trace. Buffalo Trace is America’s oldest continuous operating distillery, established in 1787. Their bourbon is highly sought after and is a staple in many spirits collections. Its inclusion in the Cenobio and the Buffalo cocktail adds a level of depth and complexity that is just mouth-watering.

The Celebratory Concoction: Mixing Anejo Tres Generaciones Tequila and Buffalo Trace Bourbon

But, let’s not forget the other components of this drink! The simple syrup adds a touch of sweetness that balances out the bold flavors of tequila and bourbon. And, of course, the bitters add a depth of flavor that pulls everything together. The sweetness and spice come together for a flavor that is both refreshing and warming at the same time.

To make the Cenobio and the Buffalo, combine:

1.5 oz Anejo Tres Generaciones Tequila

1.5 oz Buffalo Trace

.75 oz Simple Syrup

Dash of bitters

in a shaker with ice. Shake well and then strain into a low ball with ice. Then, garnish with a cherry and an orange peel. Voila! A fantastic drink to impress your friends and family.

When it comes to cocktails, there’s nothing quite like a drink that has a great story behind it. The Cenobio and the Buffalo is no exception. The combination of Anejo Tres Generaciones Tequila and Buffalo Trace bourbon is a match made in heaven. The inclusion of simple syrup and bitters just takes it to the next level. So, the next time you want to impress your friends or just have a fantastic drink, give the Cenobio and the Buffalo a try. You won’t be disappointed.
